New Horizons Motorcycle Training and Tours

Combining Motorbike Touring with Training

March 2020

Unable to go for a ride, unable to get bike serviced – I usually use local company, Bike Treads in Swindon, for my servicing. They do a great job at half the main dealer cost, but they are only servicing and maintaining key worker bikes at the moment – labour free too!

So, to beat the blues, and give me something to look forward to next weekend, I’ve ordered the servicing parts myself – oil & air filters, spark plugs, chain breaker / riveter tool etc, and also snuck in a headset riser! Nothing too complicated to be honest – I just got lazy!

I’ve serviced my own bikes in the past, but being as I bought new, I thought I ought to have it done professionally! But, now its got 42k miles on the clock, and to get me out of planting potatoes, time is right to go back and do it myself!

Stay safe!

Training and Touring cancelled – at least we have toilet roll!

We have to make safety a priority and reduce all risks to allow anyone with Corona Virus the chance to have a hospital bed.

Riding a bike does have risks which we manage to the best we can, but, lets think of those that may need help more than ourselves. We can postpone our riding, training and touring until a more suitable date.

What a year its been; last year plagued with cancer (not me), this year COVID-19 – fingers crossed things get better – but chin up, at least we have toilet roll here!!

Hard to plan rides at the moment

Bit tricky planning rides at the moment for obvious reasons. Hopefully this current situation will be over sooner rather than later, but will have to wait and see.

One of the rides Stuart and I were planning, up until last week that is, is down to Spain and back via the Millau bridge.

Our expected departure date is June 23 returning the following Tuesday June 30; leaving from Portsmouth to St Malo or Caen. Mainly camping whenever we want to stop. Typical day’s riding will be in the order of 300 miles! Hopefully, things get better!!

Fingers crossed as that ride will be great fun!!
